This time last year I was still in school and snacking was a MUST to get through the day. Granola was a go-to, and I started thinking about why I have never made it myself? To my surprise it was very easy. You can make granola into anything you want by changing the nuts, dried fruits, seeds, spices, or other flavoring agents. I started playing around with some different ideas and always had some with me in class. This one is great for autumn with the warm spices and the apples that are now in season.
I like to make this while Dave and I are watching Netflix. It takes 5 minutes to whip up, and then 40-50 minutes in a low oven. The time goes by quickly while watching your favorite shows with great company. What a tasty snack to go with it.
Take this recipe and run with it. Another one of our favorites is carrot cake. For this we use walnuts, shredded carrots and candied pineapples to replace the pecans and apples. Let us know what you come up with, we like to hear back from our readers.
